2027: Ihiala Adopts Agbodike As Consensus Candidate For House Of Reps, Rejects Other Aspirants

The people of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state on Saturday May 2, 2026 made a bold and declarative statement that Rt. Hon. Dr. Paschal Arinzechukwu Agbodike is their consensus candidate for Ihiala federal constituency, House of Representatives election next year. 


The declarative statement made in unison by stakeholders and political heavyweights of Ihiala at the official declaration ceremony of Rt. Hon. Dr. Paschal Arinzechukwu Agbodike for a second term in office at the Ihiala Local Government Secretariat new ultramodern multipurpose hall, signalled a strategic step towards the reelection of the incumbent. 


The stakeholders and political leaders in their separate speeches concurred that Agbodike surpassed expectations of the people in his first term and as such deserves to be reelected because they were of the opinion that the reward for good work is more work. 


The chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area Hon. Engr. Anayochukwu Charles Ojiakor, the chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Hon. Barr. Vin Ifeanyichukwu Ezeaka, the House of Assembly member representing Ihiala 1 state constituency Hon. Jude Ngobili, former Ihiala 1 representative Hon. Tokas Ohazuluike, Ihiala APGA Local Government Chairman Hon. Arc. Chijioke Akuamaka, State Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon. Engr. Levi Obiaduo, former chairmen of Ihiala Local Government Area, traditional rulers, Presidents-General and a host of other very eminent personalities, declared total and unflinching support for Agbodike as he formally declared his intention to represent Ihiala federal constituency again. 


Ihiala Council Mayor, Hon. Engr. Anayochukwu Charles Ojiakor, in his remarks, acknowledged that Paschal Agbodike has performed exceedingly well and that the results of his stewardship are replete in the council area, adding that his fervent prayer is for Agbodike's second term aspiration to come to fruition even as he assured him of stakeholders support. 


On his part, the chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Barr. Vin Ifeanyichukwu Ezeaka, thanked the Ebonesie zone of Ihiala for giving them Paschal Agbodike to represent Ihiala federal constituency. 


With hindsight, Ezeaka recalled how Agbodike began his political journey in 2014 to the House of Assembly of Anambra State where he spent eight years with remarkable results and thereafter proceeded to the House of Representatives to represent Ihiala federal constituency where he also continued to bestowed the dividends of quality representation to the people of Ihiala Local Government Area. 


Ezeaka declared that the entire Ihiala council area has unanimously and unequivocally endorsed and adopted Hon. Paschal Agbodike as their consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly next year. 


He however assured him that Ndi-Ihiala are solidly behind him and would also rally round him in the forthcoming primaries and the main election next year, stressing that there is absolutely no cause for alarm because according to him, the entire Ihiala has given him the mandate to continue in office for another term. 


Agbodike therefore expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to the people of Ihiala federal constituency for the support and confidence reposed in him, assuring that he would not fall short of their expectations as he officially declared for his second term bid. 


Agbodike who thanked Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for renaming the Uli campus of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University after late former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju, maintained that the governor's predecessors didn't deem it fit to immortalise late Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju except Soludo who insisted that the efforts of the former governor in founding the university will not be in vain.
