With barely few days to his inauguration as the next Executive Chairman and Mayor of Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Oluchukwu John Ilogbenu (Olutek), has unveiled his achievements as the Councillor who represented Nnobi ward 2 in the Idemili-South Congress of Councillors.
Ilogbenu who spoke to this journalist exclusively, disclosed that his constituents in Nnobi ward 2 felt the impact of his representation and stewardship at the Idemili-South legislative council as he was able to attract road constructions, education support, human capital development programmes, healthcare programmes and a host of other developmental projects and programmes to his constituency.
He told this journalist that as a Councillor, Nnobi ward 2 witnessed projects, interventions and initiatives which addressed critical needs of the people especially in the areas of road constructions and provision of solar street lighting to open up internal village roads as well as guarantee security and safety through electricity. These according to him were done within 2 years of his stewardship.
Ilogbenu said that in the area of Light-Up Ngo Project (Nnobi Ward 2), the following roads were fully illuminated with high-quality solar powered streetlights under his watch. The roads according to him were Umuagu Hall through St. Christopher’s Anglican Church to Nnobi–Alor Boundary.
Agbom Primary School Road to Ngo boundary with Umuru, Ebenesi Nnobi. Umuagu Uhuoshi/Igwedo to Ezenweile Junction. Late Sunday Ajokwu, Umuagu to Umuikechem Road. Umueze/Umuikechem/Ndam through Dr. Wilson Azugo’s residence to Umuagu/Nnobi Divisional Police Station.
Others include Umuezeme/Ugoewulu through Agwuncha to Nnobi/Nnokwa Boundary. Umuegbu Hall through Rt. Hon. Charles Odedo to Ogbo Olu/Nnobi Hall. Uhuoshi Road to St. Kelvin’s Catholic Church, Umuagu.
Umuezeme to Umuobia Road.Obinagu, Umuagu to the back of Nnobi Divisional Police Station.Umuezeme to Chukwunonso Hospital Road.Aong the Obiaja, Mmiri Mgbo axis of Nnobi-Nkpor Road and full external illumination of the Umuagu Model Health Centre.
In health sector interventions, Ilogbenu disclosed that his tenure was able to attract installation of a solar system capable of powering Umuagu health centre and also carried out palliative engineering works to address the destructive flooding around Umuagu health centre.
That he equally commenced the process of upgrading Umuezeme/Ndam health post into a primary health centre coupled with the enrollment of Nnobi ward 2 constituents into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme.
In education, Ilogbenu disclosed that he sponsored over 45 students for their WAEC registration at a cost of about N1.5 million. That he attracted the complete renovation of a four-classroom block at St. Simon’s Central Primary School, Ngo Nnobi.
In road construction, Ilogbenu told this journalist that he attracted the construction of the following roads in Ngo Nnobi: 1.3km Umuegbu Road to Ukpaka Ndam.1.5km Sunday Ajokwu/Late Emma Nwokoye Road, Umuagu to Umuikechem, both sponsored by High Chief Emeka Agbanari, MFR (Ike Idemili), the Chief Executive Officer of Seaman Oil and Gas Company.
Others according to him were 1km Okenwa Crescent, Umuagu to Umuikechem, sponsored by High Chief Ikechukwu Azugo (Okenwa Idemili).Chief R.N. Akusoba Crescent in Umuegbu, Ngo Nnobi, sponsored Chief Obinna Akusoba (Ojiewulu Nnobi), adding that all the roads were fully furnished with solar-powered streetlights.
He equally hinted that approval has been given for the construction of a 1km road in Umunebo-Eziagbom Ngo Nnobi which would be constructed by an illustrious son of Nnobi Chief R.N Okongwu.
Youth empowerment and human capital development were yet another critical aspect of his stewardship as he revealed that over 35 Ngo Nnobi youths were enrolled and empowered in various skills acquisition programmes under the Idemili South Youth Development Initiatives.
A constituent who is the President-General of Nnobi Welfare Organization, Chief Aloysius Olubialu, in his interview with this journalist, affirmed that Ilogbenu's stewardship as a Councillor was impactful and beneficial to Ngo Nnobi. He asserted that Ilogbenu was the first person to introduce installation of street lights in the area and also attracted many road construction projects too.
The PG who described Ilogbenu as a man of peace, said he galvanized stakeholders in Nnobi town and co-opted them into community development strides as evident in the many road constructions and other developmental projects and programmes he attracted to the advantage of the people.
Another constituent who identified himself as Very Rev. Fr. Martin Obum Ikeagu PhD, the Episcopal Vicar, Iyiowa Region, Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, corroborated what the President-General said, adding that Ilogbenu's stewardship as a Councillor yielded positive impacts.
Ikeagu noted that Ilogbenu's representation was backed by accountability and good human relations. He said as the Chairman of Ngo-Nnobi, Ilogbenu attracted developments and also facilitated road constructions in places where no one ever believed roads would be constructed.
Rev. Fr. Ikeagu noted that the peace-building missions and conflict resolutions efforts of Oluchukwu Ilogbenu can not be overemphasized as he has been able to reconcile factions and united them for sustainable peace, progress and prosperity in Ngo Nnobi, stressing that Olutek has shown wonderful representation and accountability and that he will perform very well as the Chairman of the Idemili-South Local Government Area.
Ilogbenu equally revealed that as the Chairman and Mayor of Idemili-South Local Government Area, his administration will focus on education, healthcare and human capital development.
He said, " My key areas of interest are Education, Health, and Human Capital Development, with a clear focus on practical interventions that directly improve the lives of our people.
Education: Improve public schools through better facilities, learning materials, ICT infrastructure, and academic excellence programmes for pupils and teachers.
Health: Strengthen Primary Healthcare Centres with improved infrastructure, essential equipment and drugs, maternal and child healthcare support, and regular medical outreaches.
Human Capital Development: Equip youths and women with practical digital, vocational, agricultural and entrepreneurial skills while supporting small businesses and sustainable livelihoods."
