The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police, SP Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony will on Friday 13th March, 2026 be honoured by the Anambra state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for his exceptional style of corporate image management and fostering cordial relations between the police and the citizenry.
The prolific Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony who has never been guilty of dereliction of duty as the police spokesman of the Anambra State Command since assumption of office, has continually kept the people abreast of latest developments in the command especially as it borders on crime fighting and crime prevention efforts of the Command.
Through his public relations strategies, Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony has been able to build public trust and confidence ensuring that police in Anambra State are friends of the citizens and not the contrary. Unlike most PPROs whose phone numbers are mostly not available, Ikenga Tochukwu has a tradition of excellence in taking and responding to phone calls especially in dire situations.
In the dark days of insecurity, Ikenga Tochukwu never failed to keep the hopes of Ndi-Anambra alive through his strategic communications and plethora of statements where he regularly informed citizens of the efforts of the Police and other security agencies in fighting non-state actors causing public disorders and disaffection amongst the people.
The nomination of SP Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony for the 2026 Lifetime Reputation Management Award by the Anambra state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, is therefore a confirmation of the recognition of his efforts in maintaining a solid relationship between the police and Ndi-Anambra at large.
Anambra Police Command have had a number of spokespersons but the era of SP Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony has redefined the way and manner in which the Command's corporate image is being managed. Rather than employ reactive measures for press releases and official statements, Ikenga has employed proactive means in handling the Command's public image.
All road therefore leads to Hollywood Event Centre in Awka on Friday 13th March this year where SP Ikenga Tochukwu Anthony would be crowned Public Relations icon with the very distinguished Anambra NIPR 2026 Lifetime Reputation Management Award.
The Anambra NIPR awardee is also an accomplished Public Relations professional with a distinguished career spanning strategic communication, crisis management and reputation management. He has consistently demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and strategic acumen in policing communication.
Rising as a staff officer to the Force Public Relations Department at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja to his current role, Ikenga's leadership has strengthened public trust, curtailed misinformation and fostered constructive partnerships between the police, media and communities, particularly during high-pressure security situations.
The Enugu-born PR maestro is widely recognised for excellence in crisis communication. He received the Best Crisis Communication Manager on Security Affairs Award from Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and the Police Public Relations Officers Conference Asaba, as well as the Most Outstanding Police Public Relations Officer of the Year award by the Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria (YOCEN).
He is also a recipient of the Inspector General of Police Award and Commendations and the Most Student-Friendly Police Public Relations Officer Award by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Senate Arm.
SP Ikenga’s work reflects core public relations values—credibility, clarity, responsiveness, and relationship-building—while advancing public understanding of policing initiatives, safety campaigns, and community-focused programmes aligned with crime prevention and safe-schooling objectives. His contributions have significantly enhanced the reputation and operational legitimacy of the Anambra State Police Command.
In view of his sustained excellence, ethical practice, and impact on public trust in law enforcement, SP Tochukwu Ikenga is eminently deserving of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Lifetime Reputation Management Award, serving as a model for strategic communicators across public and private sectors.
