RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Indigenes of Ifitedunu community in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State has advised the general public to beware of one Uchenna Nwoye Oragwuncha and avoid any form of dealings with him because he has no character and that his stock-in-trade is to tarnish people's images and rubbish their reputations for selfish reasons.
Some of the indigenes who spoke to this journalist exclusively in response to what the said Uchenna Nwoye Oragwuncha published in the online news media about twelve persons to be arraigned in court on the 19th of this month, maintained that the former President-General is someone who speaks from both sides of his mouth and can not be trusted.
High Chief Sir Francis Chukwudebe, member of the Knight of Saint Molumba (KSM) and one of the twelve persons Uchenna Nwoye Oragwuncha dragged to court, told this journalist that Oragwuncha was banished from the Knights of Saint Molumba (KSM) because of character deficiency.
He said Oragwuncha was a bosom friend of his and he facilitated his emergence as Vice President when one Chief Samuel Nweke was the President-General of Ifitedunu community town union. That as the vice president-general, Oragwuncha caused so many atrocities in the community which led to his removal from office by Ifitedunu people.
He recalled with hindsight how he knelt down before over seven hundred persons to plead for Oragwuncha's sins to be forgiven and reinstated as the VP which the people accepted and he was welcomed back as the VP despite his refusal to say he was sorry in front of the people when he asked Oragwuncha to apologize to the people he offended.
Chukwudebe noted that due to the unrepentant and chaotic nature of Oragwuncha, he became more troublesome and destructive after he was reinstated as the vice president-general, pointing out that Oragwuncha thereafter declared total war against him when he declared his intention to contest for the office of the President-General of Ifitedunu town union.
According to him, Oragwuncha turned Ifitedunu community into a theatre of war when he was the PG of the town such that people were killed and a whole lot of others terribly wounded as a result of the crisis he orchestrated in the town. He said when the chaotic atmosphere became unbearable for the people, the entire town passed a vote of no confidence on him and he was subsequently impeached.
Chukwudebe further disclosed that after Oragwuncha was impeached, a certain commissioner-friend of his reinstated him and he began to trespass into community lands where he was building shops and selling each for N2.5 Million without due consultations with relevant stakeholders in the community, noting that the ill-fated market stall project led to the crisis at Nkwo-Ifitedunu where lives were lost and people matcheted beyond recognition.
He said Oragwuncha thereafter rushed to the court to make false claims and that they have been in court ever since. The business magnate said he was perplexed to read in the online news media that Oragwuncha had gone to the media to announce that he and some others would be arraigned in court on June 19th instead of allowing the court to do its job.
He however reinforced his opinion that members of the public should beware of the obnoxious character called Uchenna Nwoye Oragwuncha, stressing that he has the skills of manipulating, brainwashing and converting people with lies and fake information.
Chukwudebe also disclosed that Oragwuncha has sent some emissaries to instigate him against one Chief Vincent Udobi so his own name would be expunged from the twelve persons he dragged to court but he refused and told his messengers that over his dead body would he destroy the image and reputation of an innocent man, who has been helping and uplifting Ifitedunu community with his personal resources.
Meanwhile Mr. Francis Chukwura Udobi, the immediate past chairman of Ukpomili village Ifitedunu and also of the same kindred with Uchenna Nwoye Oragwuncha, further corroborated what Chief Francis Chukwudebe said, adding that Oragwuncha is known in Ifitedunu as an unrepentant liar who ignites crisis in the community to enable him extort money from unsuspecting individuals.
Udobi said that Oragwuncha claimed that five thousand dollars was stolen from Ifitedunu town union secretariat when he was the President-General but the bone of contention, according to him, is does Ifitedunu use dollars and is his office a bank ?
That instead of Oragwuncha to tell the community the whereabouts of the town union vehicle handed over to him by his predecessor, he is shifting attention to an imaginary five thousand dollars; lies he fabricated to elicit sympathy from people.
He said unless Uchenna Nwoye Oragwuncha apologized to the people of Ifitedunu for all his atrocious acts and evil machinations, he will not find peace of mind because Ifitedunu, according to him, is still suffering from the pains and afflictions he inflicted on the community during his tenure as PG.
He also noted that it was wrong for Oragwuncha to preempt the court by going to the media to talk about a decision that has not been taken by the court yet thereby giving the impression that he already knows the verdict of the court even as he insisted that clear conscience fears no accusations while admonishing communities to mindful of the kind of characters they elect as Presidents-General.
