RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Honourable Maduaburochukwu Bernard Udemezue, the House member representing Ayamelum state constituency in the 8th legislature of Anambra State, has raised alarm over the removal of his original results of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Assembly primary election held in Ayamelum and replacing it with a fake one.
Udemezue who spoke to this journalist exclusively about his predicaments, said the election was held, results written and thereafter the electoral officer who he mentioned as Emeka Nwokedi headed to Awka with the results.
He said he was shocked when another result was released the next day different from the results collated and announced by the electoral officer.
He said he made enquires to ascertain what happened but they were dribbling him and as a result, he traveled to Abuja only to discover that the original result with which he was declared winner of the state assembly primary election was changed.
The lawmaker further disclosed that he had to compel the electoral officer to provide the original results he wrote in his presence which he did, adding that he is currently pressing for the party to recognize the original results.
Udemezue stated that he won the NDC House of Assembly primary election with 480 votes and was subsequently declared winner of the election by the electoral officer Mr. Emeka Nwokedi.
Although he said he was hopeful of a remedial action but emphasized that he expected more from the NDC judging from what the presidential candidate stands for, pointing out that there should be some level of transparency and credibility in the party affairs in order to meet the expectations of the citizenry.
