RAYMOND OZOJI reports
The political leader in Ihiala Local Government Area and Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Chief Barr. Vincent Ifeanyichukwu Ezeaka says ex-governors Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige, Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano didn't construct one road in Ihiala Local Government during their respective regimes.
Ezeaka who spoke exclusively to this journalist in his office at Awka, said Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is not to blame for the dilapidated roads in Ihiala Local Government because they were problems his government inherited from past administrations.
He said that the late Chinwoke Mbadinuju who hailed from Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area didn't work for Ihiala town and not one road was completed.
He also recalled with hindsight that Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige who was governor of Anambra State for three years didn't even bring a tipper of sand to Ihiala for road construction.
Ezeaka said that Peter Obi came into government and it was in the last year of his administration that he awarded Uzoakwa-Oseakwa road with a spur to Oluoha road which he said were never completed till today.
According to him, Willie Obiano came into power and never awarded any road for construction in Ihiala Local Government in all the eight years of his administration instead he cancelled the road awarded by Peter Obi and rewarded it to another construction company and the company never did any job.
The Anambra State Local Government Service Commission boss stressed that it was absolutely not right to throw the blame of deplorable roads in Ihiala Local Government Area on the government of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to the extent that no Ihiala leadership has visited Soludo's government with a request of pressing needs of the council area.
Ezeaka however disclosed that the government of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has awarded the Ndiezike-Umudara road for construction. He said that the road is ongoing but also stalled by a court action because the construction firm diverted flood waters into the bush and the owners of the lands went to court.
He said such actions questioned who the Ihiala man really is because in some other communities where the state government has worked or currently working, buildings were destroyed and no one went to court instead they negotiated with the state government on the way forward.
Ezeaka pointed out that those who were propagating Ihiala Agenda in the August 16th Anambra-South senatorial district by-election instigated owners of the land where the contractor handling the Ndiezike-Umudara road project channelled flood waters to go to court, so they would claim that Soludo is not doing anything in Ihiala.
But Ezeaka however emphasized that Ihiala people were wiser now because the over 13000 votes garnered in the council area in the last Anambra-South senatorial by-election proved it beyond reasonable doubts.
He therefore reiterated the fact that Governor Soludo was not responsible for road devastations in Ihiala because he doesn't know where Ubahuekwem is and hasn't gone to Akwa before. That the governor doesn't even know the bad nature of the roads in Umudara, Umuezeawara, Okohia, Umudimogo and others, noting that it is the persons living there that will bring a programme for their development to the governor.
He was of the opinion that it is the people that will invite the governor to come and see their sufferings but sadly, no one has done that in Ihiala.
The legal luminary who disclosed that the leadership of Ihiala Progress Union (IPU) which was removed recently by the state government, never made any presentation to the state government regarding infrastructural needs in Ihiala and that no ministry has the letter of the deposed President-General requesting for anything from government.
