It was a celebration of the life and times of late Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe at Ubahudara village Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State on Friday 22nd August, 2025 as the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, Bishop Thomas Ifeanyichukwu Obiatuegwu the Auxiliary Bishop of Orlu Diocese Imo state, Ichie Ifeanyi Orjiako , APGA State Secretary Hon. Engr. Levi Obiaduo, Ichie Simeon Ohajianya (Okosisi) former House Member Ihiala 1, Barr Maxwell Udechukwu, Ichie Collins Agbasiere, Foster Alakwe, Kenneth Okonkwo, Mr Arinze Onwubiko, Afam Ukaigwe, Comr. Obinna Okafor , Chizoba Ozoagu, Chinweike Ajanobi and a host of other prominent sons and daughters of Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Enugu and Imo States, joined the Nzeribe family to wish their beloved mother journey mercy to eternal glory and everlasting peace.
It was indeed a day of eulogy and showering of encomiums on a virtuous woman whose sojourn on earth was a mirror through which others looked at life with hope and firm believe in a future filled with opportunities.
Though her demise may have created a vacuum but the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, the Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area Hon. Engr. Anayochukwu Charles Ojiakor, the State Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon. Engr. Levi Obiaduo, Bishop Thomas Ifeanyichukwu Obiatuegwu, the Auxiliary Bishop of Orlu Catholic Diocese in Imo state and all those who travelled far and near to be part of her funeral ceremony strongly believe that her children and all those who cherished her amiable personality would find solace in her enduring legacies and exceptional qualities.
Late Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe's first daughter Julie Ngozi who is married to Mr. C. Don Adinuba, former Commissioner for Information under ex-Governor Willie Obiano in her tribute recalled how their late parents journeyed from Nigeria to Cameroon in the early 60s where they lived happily ever after and their marriage was blessed with 8 beautiful children now with their respective families.
She said her mother lived a life marked by warmth, compassion and selflessness, emphasizing that she was the true embodiment of calmness and kindness; ever smiling and always patient and consistently placing the needs of others before her own. That she was a very sweet soul and had 21 grandchildren.
One of Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe's sons, Mr. Enzo Uzodimma Nzeribe in his tribute described the death of his mother as a painful reality. Enzo who fondly called his mother " My Sweet 16 GPS " said life is meaningless without the support and guidance of his departed mother.
His tribute reads in part, " My Sweet 16 GPS left with my GPS. What is life without her support and guidance? Life holds no joy for me any longer. When I imagine the years ahead without her, desolation fills me knowing that she won't be here to cheer me on. She was my God and an amazing Sweet 16 GPS.
She was kind hearted, selfless and sweet towards everyone. I will keep her loving memory alive. No pen can fully capture in words how desolate I feel at your loss, O sweet mother! "
Meanwhile the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly who equally represents Ogbaru 2 state constituency Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, said late Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe lived a life of selfless service to her family members and the community at large. Udeze noted that her aura, wisdom, captivating smiles and advice would be greatly missed even as he prayed for the repose of her gentle soul.
Also the Mayor and Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area Hon. Engr. Anayochukwu Charles Ojiakor noted that the life and times of Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe were exceptional and remarkable. According to him, she was a rare gem and would be missed dearly by both family members and those who had the rare privilege of coming close to her when she was still alive and kicking.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Orlu Catholic Diocese Imo State, Bishop Thomas Obiatuegwu in his speech extolled the christian qualities and virtues of Ezinne MaryRose Nzeribe which she had exhibited all through her sojourn on earth.
He therefore encouraged the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with great fortitude and rejoice in the fact that Ezinne their late mother fought for justice, inclusiveness, empathy and peace and that her life was a testament to a remarkable and fulfilled existence even as he admonished everyone present at the funeral ceremony to live a life of cheerfulness, selflessness and compassion for others as exemplified in the life of Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe, who was born on 3rd April, 1943 and slept in the Lord on 11th April, 2025.
Bishop Obiatuegwu therefore prayed that the soul of late Ezinne MaryRose Chinyere Nzeribe and the souls of all the faithful departed rest peacefully in the bosom of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen !
