RAYMOND OZOJI reports
The Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) has apprehended a truck driver caught in a viral video climbing the median on the newly constructed Amawbia-Uga dual carriage way.
The MD/CEO of ARTMA Engr. Okonkwo Emeka Konti in a statement, said that the offending truck has been impounded and currently in the custody of his agency and that the truck driver whom he described as reckless would be prosecuted in accordance with the relevant sections of the law.
Konti explained that the swift arrest of the reckless truck driver is a clear demonstration that acts of recklessness, vandalisation of public infrastructure and disregard for traffic regulations won't be tolerated anywhere in Anambra state.
The ARTMA boss therefore expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to Anambra citizens for their vigilance, cooperation and timely information provided which he said made the arrest possible and also in line with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's mantra on " see something, say something."
He encouraged members of the public to continue reporting traffic violations and criminal acts as he believes that safer roads and protection of government infrastructure is a collective responsibility.
