RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has made it categorically and abundantly clear that the outcome of the August 16th Anambra-South senatorial bye-election shows that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Labour Party (LP) are dead in Anambra State.
Soludo who made the observations at a political rally in Nanka Orumba-North Local Government Area of the state, said in spite of the combined allied forces mobilized by the ADC and the Labour Party coupled with the gangsterism of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yet the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had a historical landslide victory in the election.
The governor stated that the new concoction called ADC demonstrated what they were about at Ekwulobia Aguata Local Government Area where they allegedly bribed NYSC polling agents and they carted away ballot booklets and thumb-printed them with ADC and attempted to smuggle them in but APGA agents stood their grounds and said no to such rascality; wondering whether that was how ADC would govern Nigeria, if it clinched power.
The governor said that the Senator representing Anambra-Central, Anambra-North, member House of Representatives and some others combined forces to come against the citizens but the people of Anambra spoke, stressing that they wanted to use the Anambra-South senatorial bye-election as a test case for the new concoction called ADC.
He said that the All Progressives Grand Alliance made an emphatic statement with its 75% score of the votes which he said implied that Anambra is APGA land while APC according to him, got 16% of the votes, YPP 5%, ADC 2% and Labour Party 0%, adding that it was a strong signal that both ADC and Labour Party were dead in Anambra State.
The governor stated that it was laughable that APGA defeated the Labour Party governorship candidate in his ward; defeated the ADC/Labour Party candidate in his ward and also defeated the APC gubernatorial candidate in his polling unit, his ward, his community and his local government area.
Soludo however expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who stood his ground and said there must be free and fair election in Anambra State.
He also applauded the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of Professor Mamood Yakubu because the INEC officials, according to him, were thorough-bred professionals and they were at their very best during the election.
