The Anambra State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has decorated fifty-seven (57) newly promoted officers at a colourful ceremony held at the Command's Operational Base, 33 Onitsha, Anambra State.
The decoration ceremony, which was attended by principal officers of the Command, family members, friends, and well-wishers, marked another significant milestone in the career progression of the affected personnel who were elevated to their various new ranks in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, commitment, and outstanding service to the Agency and the nation at large.
A statement from the Agency's spokesman ASN Chukwuemeka Nwosu, disclosed that the State Commander, CN Onubogu Charles Orakwue, Commander of Narcotics congratulated the newly promoted officers and described their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, discipline, and renewed commitment to the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the state.
He urged the officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by the leadership of the Agency through hard work, integrity, professionalism, and exemplary conduct in the discharge of their official duties.
The State Commander further noted that the promotion exercise reflects the unwavering commitment of the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), CON, OFR, to staff welfare, motivation, and institutional reforms.
He observed that since the assumption of office of the current Chairman/Chief Executive, promotion exercises have become regular and are now conducted as and when due, significantly boosting the morale of officers and enhancing productivity across the Agency.
According to him, the timely promotion of deserving officers is a clear demonstration of the Chairman's commitment to rewarding excellence, professionalism, diligence, and dedicated service, while strengthening the operational efficiency of the Agency in the discharge of its mandate of combating substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking nationwide.
Responding on behalf of the promoted officers, one of the beneficiaries expressed profound appreciation to the *Chairman/Chief Executive, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), CON, OFR, and the management of the Agency for sustaining timely promotions and prioritising the welfare and career advancement of personnel. The officers also expressed gratitude to the Anambra State Commander for his exemplary leadership, mentorship, and unwavering support.
They pledged to reciprocate the confidence reposed in them by remaining steadfast, loyal, disciplined, and committed to the Agency's mission of safeguarding society from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
The ceremony featured the decoration of officers across various cadres. Four (4) officers were promoted from Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN) to Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN), while three (3) officers were elevated from Superintendent of Narcotics (SN) to Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN).
Twenty (20) officers were decorated with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics (DSN) from Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN I), while nineteen (19) officers were promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN II) to Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN I). Four (4) officers were elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN II).
Additionally, three (3) officers each were promoted to the ranks of Chief Narcotics Agent (CNA) and Senior Narcotics Agent (SNA), while one (1) officer was promoted to the rank of Narcotics Agent (NA).
The ceremony concluded with congratulatory messages, group photographs, and goodwill exchanges as colleagues, family members, and friends celebrated the achievements of the newly promoted officers.
