Dr. Okechukwu Okakpu, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the August 29 Anambra State Local Government Elections in Njikoka Local Government Area, says he has contested elections for 20 years in the state without any tangible success.
Okakpu who stated this at the 3 years anniversary ceremony of the APGA Apostles held in Awka, recalled that it has been an excruciating experience in the last 20 years participating in every election season; spending his money and time yet he has been denied victory on several occasions.
Okakpu who admonished politicians and elective office seekers during his speech on the occasion, stressed the need for people to be patient and resolute in the pursuit of political power, adding that it is not a do or die affair.
The former PDP stalwart noted that he has contested both local government and state assembly elections in the state but all to avail even though he was resolute in the pursuit of his dreams in the political circles.
He therefore described APGA Apostles as a veritable platform for the propagation of APGA ideals, noting that the group has penetrated the grassroots and are determined to dislodge every oppositions in favour of APGA.
According to him, the APGA-led state government which Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo is at the helm of affairs has through his disruptive development agenda transformed the entire state from obscurity to modernity as evident in the dualisation of roads, revamped health sector, improved safety and security, and a host of other achievements.
Okakpu however advised APGA members present at the 3rd year anniversary ceremony of the APGA Apostles to return to their wards and polling units to preach the gospel of the good governance model of Governor Soludo to the people at the grassroots because he believes that APGA will not settle for less in the coming elections.
Okakpu thanked APGA Apostles for their resilience and doggedness in the projection of the ideals and ideologies of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), emphasizing that the group is a force to reckon with especially as their mission is to ensure that APGA candidates win in the incoming LG and national assembly elections.
