RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has clarified issues on the processes involved in the cases associated with fake native doctors and fake spiritualists apprehended during the raid of such weird characters in the state; currently undergoing trials in court.
Soludo who gave the clarifications in Oba, Idemili-South Local Government Area of the state, during the community's massive endorsement rally for him and his deputy, told Oba youths not to despair after they pleaded with him to facilitate their brother's return from detention.
He said they shouldn't lose hope because their brother the multi-millionaire native doctor popularly known as Akwa-Okuko and others were facing trials in court for various charges against them but the truth of the matter remained that even if he was convicted, he would intervene.
The governor emphasized that rather than interfere with the judicial processes involving Akwa-Okuko and others, it would be best to allow the judiciary take its turn after which state pardon comes in in the event of conviction.
The governor equally alluded to a certain brothel in Oba where underaged girls were held hostage and used for baby production for sales by the owner of the building. He stressed that reformation of Oba youths would be a pivotal task of his administration because they are not known for magical means of amassing wealth and affluence.
The governor however maintained that his administration will not relent in cleansing the society of illicit drugs, kidnapping, fake native doctors and other negative influences, noting that Oba community occupied a vantage position in Anambra State.
Responding to the governor's statements, Oba youths president and councilor representing Oba ward one, Hon. Ebuka Chibueze, said they understood the governor's position that their brother Akwa-Okuko would undergo some judicial processes before he regained his freedom from detention.
The Oba youths president noted that from what the governor told them, there is solution and that they believe that before long their brother Akwa-Okuko will return home; that all they needed was to wait patiently.
