RAYMOND OZOJI reports
The President-General of Umueri General Assembly in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State, Amb. Dr. John Metchie has again reinforced his decision to take the re-election campaign of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his Deputy Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim personal as the entire Omambala region rally round the governor and his deputy.
Metchie who made the declaration at the weekend, maintained that the 2025 Omambala Day Celebration held at the Otuocha township stadium was a rallying point for the six local government areas constituting Omambala region to join forces in the epic cultural carnival to root ruthlessly for the re-election of the incumbent governor and his deputy.
Although he was cognisant of the fact that one of the candidates in the November 8th governorship election hails from the Omambala region but he also clarified that the Omambala region and Anambra-North senatorial district have had their eight years under ex-Governor Willie Obiano's regime and now, it was the turn of Anambra-South senatorial zone to have their own eight years in the Government House which according to him is why Omambala is rooting relentlessly for Soludo's second term reelection.
Metchie who praised the governorship zoning system in Anambra State, noted that the system has ensured equitable rotation and fair play amongst the three senatorial zones of the state, emphasizing that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has continued to provide good governance and transformative leadership to Ndi-Anambra since inception.
He was therefore of the opinion that what transpired at the 2025 maiden Omambala Cultural Day Celebration was a clear manifestation of solidarity to the Solution Government as well as a collective resolve of the Omambala people to deliver the Soludo-Ibezim Mandate on November 8th this year.
Metchie also known as Ife-Omambala and Ezi-Umueri respectively, stressed that Omambala people comprising Anambra-East, Anambra-West, Ayamelum, Awka-North, Dunukofia and Oyi Local Government Areas have made a bold and emphatic statement that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo must return elected next month and he would deploy his structures in the grassroots to make it happen.
