The President-General of Building Materials International Market Ogidi, Chief Jude Nwankwo says that the call for disbandment and proscription of Agunechemba state security outfit by some politicians in Anambra state is mere propaganda and a waste of time.
Nwankwo who spoke exclusively to this journalist in his office, made it categorically clear that if Agunechemba leaves, everybody will run away from Anambra state because the dark days of unknown gunmen will resurface and people will begin to migrate to Asaba and other cities for safety and security.
Nwankwo recalled that before Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo was given ticket to contest the governorship election in 2021, unknown gunmen attempted to kill him in Isuofia but God spared his life in the midst of intense insecurity and lawlessness.
He said that before the advent of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's administration, insecurity was the order of the day in Anambra State and hell was let loose. According to him, no security agents could wear their uniforms and soldiers were afraid to move on the roads.
But according to him, Soludo came and started with the local vigilantes. Thereafter he moved on to Agunechemba and finally set up the Operation Udo Ga Chi Security Service; emphasizing that the 2025 Homeland Security Law was the climax of his resolve to fight insecurity to a standstill.
He therefore observed that there is security in Anambra state now and they can drive around with their expensive cars. Nwankwo who commended the efforts of Agunechemba operatives and the Udo Ga Chi security team, said there is peace and stability in Anambra markets now and there is no more breaking of shops by armed bandits because Agunechemba and other security agents are always on ground to secure the markets.
The Anambra traders' patron who emphasized that Agunechemba has come to stay, also made case for the training and retraining of Agunechemba security operatives for effective and efficient service delivery to Ndi-Anambra.
He equally stressed the need to caution as well as reprimand erring officers of the security outfit to serve as deterrent to others and to instill professional conduct in them while securing the state especially at the grassroots.
Nwankwo however corrected the wrong notion that Agunechemba was established to serve the ruling APGA government in Anambra state, saying that Agunechemba is for the safety and security of lives and property of Ndi-Anambra and not created for election purposes.
