The Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO) has urged Ndi Anambra and citizens across the South-East to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The call follows Anambra’s outstanding performance in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), where the state recorded 168,187 new voters in just two weeks—the highest figure achieved in any similar period since 2017. Women accounted for 58 per cent of new registrants, while youths aged 18–34 made up more than half.
In sharp contrast, other South-East states performed poorly. INEC data shows that out of 64,696 applications across the zone, Anambra alone contributed 62,698. Abia (772), Enugu (484), Imo (481) and Ebonyi (261) trailed behind with some of the lowest figures nationwide. Analysts blame voter apathy, mistrust in the electoral process, and logistical challenges in rural communities.
Observers have linked Anambra’s strong showing to ANCISRO’s coordinated grassroots campaigns, which included its “My Vote, My Duty” initiative, school outreach, town halls and parish sensitisation. These efforts directly targeted groups that turned out in large numbers to register.
ANCISRO’s Managing Director, Chuka I. Nnabuife, said: “This record registration demonstrates what is possible when citizens are encouraged and supported to see voter registration as both a right and a duty. We urge Ndi Anambra and indeed all our brothers and sisters across the South-East to take advantage of the ongoing INEC online voter registration exercise. The strength of our democracy depends on active participation.”
Established by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in September 2024, ANCISRO has given Anambra a unique institutional edge in civic mobilisation, ensuring that voter education is anchored in deliberate policy rather than left to chance.
With the Anambra governorship election fixed for 8 November 2025, ANCISRO has pledged to intensify its campaign for registration, PVC collection and voter turnout.
