RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Anambra state government will henceforth apprehend medical officers who do not have their name tags on their uniforms while on duty.
The health commissioner, Dr. Ben Afam Obidike, who gave the hint in Awka, stated that it has become necessary for medical personnel in government-owned health facilities to have their name tags on their uniforms for proper identification.
He said disciplinary actions would be taken against medical officers who flouted the new order because it is the right of the patient to know who is attending to him or her so as to track irresponsible conducts from nurses and other health professionals.
Obidike noted that the name tags have been provided for the workers and it is mandatory that they put it on while on duty, stressing that any healthcare worker in the employ of the Anambra State Government that doesn't have his or her name tag on would be dealt with accordingly.
He said government has recruited health workers and also renovated and equipped hospitals coupled with training and retraining of workers; that what is needed now is positive action and response from the health workers.
Obidike however pointed out that any hospital in Anambra State that does not meet government stipulations and standards in their operations would be shutdown forthwith as quackery and mediocrity won't be tolerated.
