SAVAN Advocates Partnership With Government For Sustainable Development In Anambra

Soludozie Anambra Volunteers and Ambassadors Network (SAVAN), a non-governmental organisation championing civic responsibility and partnership with government has set the stage for a statewide reorientation campaign to sensitise the citizenry on how they can contribute their own token to the growth and development of the state. 


The non-profit making organisation which believes that sustainable development is a collective responsibility and not the responsibility of government alone, has explained the need for the citizens to think of what they can do legitimately to contribute to industrialisation and wealth creation. 


Founder and General Coordinator of Soludozie Anambra Volunteers and Ambassadors Network (SAVAN) Dr. Okechukwu Cyril Nwuche, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, told this journalist exclusively that the cardinal objective of the organisation is to galvanise Ndi-Anambra towards positive actions for sustainable development. 


Nwuche who explained that SAVAN is non-partisan in its modus operandi, noted that the core mandate and commitment of the organisation is to ensure that Anambra State continues to develop on four cardinal areas which are civic responsibility, value reformation, environmental sustainability as well as corporate social responsibility and investment.


The SAVAN general coordinator was therefore of the opinion that for any society to achieve what he mentioned as premium development, there must be synergy  between the people and government, adding that they are partnering the presidents-general and traditional rulers in the area of corporate social responsibility. Then the ministry of information for value reformation, 


According to him, SAVAN would be officially inaugurated on 11th of September this year and Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo would be conferred the Chief Ambassador of SAVAN while the Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim would be made the first grand patron of SAVAN. 


Nwuche also disclosed that the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation Dr. Law Mefor would chair the inaugural ceremony and equally be conferred patron of SAVAN. 


He said other government functionaries, traditional rulers, rector of federal polytechnic Oko, vice chancellors of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, would also grace the SAVAN inauguration. 


He said after the inauguration, SAVAN would organise a statewide debate competition on morality and ethics for secondary school students on October 30th this year and thereafter hold the first mega Ndi-Anambra summit on corporate social responsibility and investment at the International Convention Centre Awka slated for December 18th this year, adding that the Anambra State Government is supporting SAVAN to host the summit.
