Anambra NDC House Of Representatives Candidate Aids Erosion Control In Ugama-Obosi

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Idemili-North and South federal constituency election next year, Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene says he is aiding efforts geared towards controlling erosion devastations in his country home Ugama village in Obosi community Idemili-North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Anyamene who spoke exclusively with this journalist in his palatial erosion-threatened mansion in Ugama village Obosi, recalled that himself and a few others raised about N40 Million to forestall erosion insurgence in the area during the first quarter of this year.

Anyamene who disclosed that he personally donated N10 Million out of the total sum, noted that his community had made concerted efforts to manage environmental devastations like erosion menace but maintained that the level of the devastations required interventions from the federal government, state government, multilateral agencies and other forms of external help to ameliorate the situation in his community.

He said what keeps him awake at night is the welfare and well-being of his people as he believes that one can not play politics where houses are being consumed or where a child is being consumed by erosion devastations, adding that nobody should play politics with human lives instead it should be what can be done to alleviate the sufferings of Obosi people.

According to him, Eric Nnamdi Anyamene Foundation has been a veritable platform for human capital development, economic advancement as well as grassroots development in Obosi community and beyond. He said that the aforestated foundation has done a lot in education, healthcare, empowerment programmes and creation of employment opportunities for the people.

He said his foundation paid JAMB fees for over a thousand students this year and they have been doing it for four years now to foster human capital development in the area.

The NDC reps hopeful who stated that he has about 20 students in his scholarship scheme, revealed that he  embarked on a programme tagged Zero Hunger where he has consistently provided food palliatives to his people in the last five years coupled with free medical missions and other philanthropic schemes.

Anyamene who is currently working on a catchment pit in Ugama village Obosi to control flood water and prevent further environmental devastations in the area, told this journalist that he singlehandedly constructed the Union Secondary School Obosi road which connected Ugama village and other parts of Obosi town.

He however pointed out that his intention to represent Idemili-North and South federal constituency in the Green Chambers of the national assembly was borne out of the desire to bring the dividends of democracy to the constituency.

Anyamene said, " My ambition to contest for House of Representatives is borne out of that singular desire to drive dividends of democracy to Idemili-North and South federal constituency. "
