2027: Women Accept Anambra Deputy Speaker For Awka-North And South Seat, Reject Incumbent, Others

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

Anambra women under the aegis of Eziokwu Bu Ndu Women Association have unanimously accepted the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sir Chukwuma Pius Okoye as their consensus candidate for next year's national assembly elections.

The women who publicly rejected the Incumbent representative and other dramatis personae aspiring for the Green Chambers, declared that the Deputy Speaker is the best option for Awka-North and South federal constituency come 2027.

Leader of the Eziokwu Bu Ndu Women Association, lady Anago Chinyere, who spoke to this journalist during Amawbia community Eziokpalaigwe cultural festival last weekend, said the association will mobilise women for the Deputy Speaker because they are determined to ensure that he wins the Awka-North and South House of Representatives election.

Lady Anago said that they were tired of having people who represented themselves only at the national assembly to the detriment of constituents who voted them into office. She maintained that there is no going back on their decision to deliver the Deputy Speaker in their respective wards and polling units because the Deputy Speaker, according to her, is someone who really cares about the welfare and well-being of the people.

Lady Anago who emphasized that they don't know any other person contesting for the Awka-North and South federal constituency seat except Rt Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, stressed that the Deputy Speaker has built schools, provided lifelines through sustainable empowerment schemes, developed youths through ICT programmes as well as acquisition of economic cum entrepreneurial skills for self-dependence and financial freedom.

She said Awka-North and South women are solidly behind the Deputy Speaker and that Eziokwu Bu Ndu Women Association will penetrate the grassroots to ensure his electoral victory in the next general elections.
