Oreoluwa Awe, a student of Brookstone school Port Harcourt Nigeria shines at the British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (BROCLA) held at the civic centre Victoria Island, Lagos state, winning top in English as a second language and also best in Nigeria across eight subjects in the June 2025 IGCSE examinations.
Miss Awe, who was apparently engrossed in ecstasy, said winning the awards feels amazing and shows that all her late night studies and hardwork really paid off.
Although she said she couldn't have won the awards without her teachers, her family and the support she got at Brookstone school; she however encouraged youngsters like her to strive for excellence and believe they can achieve big things too, stressing that the awards would spur her to do greater things.
Meanwhile her father, Engr. Afolabi Awe, couldn't hide his pride seeing his daughter attain such level of success at a very young age, saying that with discipline and encouragements, children can truly excel on the global stage.
Also the principal of Brookstone school, Dr. Bashiru Sadiku, added that Oreoluwa's recognition at both global and national levels reflect the hardwork of students and teachers as well as the supportive environment Brookstone school fosters.
BROCLA is organised annually by the British Council in partnership with Cambridge International Education, celebrating students with exceptional results in Cambridge examinations.
