Aguata 2 Constituency Representative Underperformed -- Okonkwo

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

Arc. Chukwuka Williams Okonkwo, an aspirant for Aguata 2 state constituency, has stated unequivocally that the incumbent member representing Aguata 2 state constituency in the current 8th legislature of Anambra State underperformed.

Okonkwo who assessed the performance of the incumbent, observed that no tangible projects or programmes, done or ongoing, were attracted to the constituency in the last three years.

He told this journalist during an exclusive interview in Awka that the people of Aguata 2 constituency are seriously complaining about the performance of the incumbent and that the people are also clamouring for his replacement as they do not wish to have another episode of abysmal representation in the legislature.

He said that there is a quota for SAs and SSAs given to House of Assembly members but nobody knows what happened to the quota given to the Aguata 2 constituency representative; alleging that the said positions were not given to anybody from Aguata-North.

Okonkwo who had declared his intention to contest for the Aguata 2 constituency seat in his Aguluezechukwu ward, is set to host APGA stakeholders of Aguata-North at the Aguata Local Government Headquarters Ekwulobia on May 9, 2026 to officially notify them of his ambition.

Okonkwo stated that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever the incumbent should be considering a second term in office because according to him, there is nothing on ground to show for it.

Apart from non-performance, Okonkwo pointed out that there is a one-tenure rotational agreement in Aguata-North. That in the aforesaid arrangement, Aguluezechukwu is the only community in Aguata-North that has not produced a House of Assembly member.

He reiterated that there is no verifiable project the House member has done in Aguata 2 constituency and that Aguata-North can not afford to waste another four years of poor representation.

Okonkwo who said that he was optimistic that he would clinch the APGA ticket for next year's Aguata 2 constituency elections, disclosed that as a private person, he has singlehandedly done a lot in Aguata and Aguluezechukwu community in particular.

He said as a party member and a stakeholder of the APGA family in Aguluezechukwu, he singlehandedly rented an APGA secretariat in Aguluezechukwu community, furnished and equipped it for the party. That before his intervention, APGA Aguluezechukwu had no secretariat.
