RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Presidents-General of the eight towns and eleven political wards of Aguata 2 state constituency have in one accord taken a fervent decision to rally round Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams, owner of OC Bravo business empire, ahead of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primary elections.
The PGs concurred that Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams is the most credible option for Aguata 2 state constituency and that his antecedents and pedigree showed that he is a core grassroots person, who deploys his personal resources to uplift humanity.
Addressing the PGs on Sunday in Aguluezechukwu, Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams emphasized the need for a change in the way and manner Aguata-North is being represented in the state legislature.
He said that the status quo has to change because as it stands now, there is no telling that Aguata-North has a representative in the current legislature of Anambra State.
Okonkwo noted that despite being the governor's constituency, his investigations revealed that there are no concrete projects attracted to the constituency in the last three years and that it has been a festival of remonstration throughout Aguata-North because the people are disenchanted and discontented with what they have seen in the last three years of the current representative.
Okonkwo who stressed that the roles of the Presidents-General in community development can not be overemphasized, maintained that if elected, he would work in synergy and collaboration with the PGs to attract projects and programmes in tandem with the most pressing needs of the communities in Aguata-North.
He therefore appealed to the community leaders to support his mission to rescue Aguata-North from representations based on sentiments and nepotism as he opined that Aguata 2 state constituency deserves better than what it is getting at the moment.
In his brief remarks, President-General of Umuona community and chairman of all the PGs in Aguata Local Government Area, Chief Kenneth Okoli, prayed that OC Bravo's aspiration would come to fruition even as he assured him of the backing of other PGs in the council area.
President-General of Aguluezechukwu community Nze JohnPaul Ezenwaka, in his speech, observed that all other towns in Aguata-North have gone to the House of Assembly except Aguluezechukwu town.
Ezenwaka told his fellow community leaders that Aguluezechukwu community is solidly behind Arc. Okonkwo Chukwuka Williams and therefore appealed to them to support his ambition especially as Aguluezechukwu hasn't produced any representative for Aguata-North.
