It is a rain of massive project interventions as House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. Paschal Arinzechukwu Agbodike PhD, turns Ihiala federal constituency into a construction site with completed and ongoing projects at various locations in the area.
A recent tour of the projects conducted by this journalist revealed that schools in the constituency were great beneficiaries of the interventions as confirmed by some of the school principals who told this journalist that the interventions were timely and in tandem with their most pressing needs because they had issues of inadequate classrooms and students were jam-packed in classes like sardines.
Some of the project sites covered by this journalist include Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Uli campus, Uli Central School Uli, Community High School Amorka, Union Secondary School Okija, Okija Grammar School Okija, Abbot Boys Secondary School Ihiala, Umuogu town hall Okija, Ezego road Ihiala and Assumption Girls' Secondary School Uli. All are capital intensive projects intended to address critical needs.
At Union Secondary School Okija where Agbodike is erecting an ultramodern one-storey building classroom blocks, principal of the school Mrs. Idemobi Nonye, said the lawmaker's response to their needs was timely because one of their classes was gutted by fire and ever since the incident, they have been clustering students in classes. She however expressed joy that the construction of classroom blocks for the school will ease their problems.
It was also commendation galore at Assumption Girls' Secondary School Uli as the principal Mrs. Ezenwaka Ann described Paschal Agbodike as a man of the people for providing sewing machines and other empowerment materials worth millions of naira for their skill acquisition programmes.
She also disclosed that the federal lawmaker provided solar lights for Assumption Girls' Secondary School Uli, which according to her, has made the school more beautiful and safer especially at nights, adding that the House of Representatives member also gave the school laptop computers and other education materials; noting that the lawmaker's interventions have been very helpful to the school.
Meanwhile the principal Community High School Amorka Mrs. Nnajiofor Ebele was not left out in showing profound gratitude and appreciation to Rt. Hon. Paschal Agbodike for coming to their rescue in the school. Mrs. Nnajiofor told this journalist that Community High School Amorka lacked classrooms. That a five classroom block in the school was completely dilapidated with leaking roofs such that students were not allowed to use them.
She was however grateful that Agbodike intervened and renovated the five classroom blocks together with new structures, stressing that the lawmaker's intervention was really beneficial to the school because the students, according to her, now have enough space for learning.
At Okija Grammar School Okija (OGS) where Hon. Paschal Agbodike has built and furnished one classroom block comprising three classes to address the problem of inadequate classrooms, the school principal Mrs. Moghalu Susan, said that the project helped the students to stop bringing chairs and lockers from their homes.
The principal of Abbot Boys Secondary School Ihiala Dr. Mrs. Chikwelu Stella Chidimma, who said she personally signed Agbodike's projects, noted that the projects already have great impacts in the school. She said that the projects will end the era of students taking their WAEC examinations in uncompleted building.
She said they were very happy for the interventions because the projects will enhance learning abilities of the students and that new infrastructures are good for every human being.
According to the principal, Abbot Boys Secondary School Ihiala only has mini halls but the 300 capacity multi-purpose hall, computer laboratory/e-learning library, science laboratory, a storey building multipurpose classroom block, borehole water facility, interlocking of the school compound and other projects being carried out by Hon. Paschal Agbodike will help transform the school.
Meanwhile work is rapidly ongoing at Umuogu village town hall Okija where the House of Representatives member is currently building a befitting town hall for the people of Okija while Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is not left out as the multipurpose lecture theatre also being constructed by the federal lawmaker at the Uli campus of the university is another work in progress.
Central School Uli is another beneficiary of the Rep member's interventions in school infrastructures as the school got new classroom blocks befitting for the learning convenience of the pupils.
Citizens of Ihiala Local Government Area are equally grateful to the federal lawmaker for rescuing them from the menace of the once deplorable Ezego road along Uzoakwa Ihiala. Consensus opinion were that the lawmaker's timely interventions on the road saved them from the perennial problems of bad roads as they now plied the road with ease because Paschal Agbodike reconstructed it.
Despite all the projects mentioned, the House of Representatives member, maintained that those were just a tip of the iceberg because interventions in school infrastructures and other areas will be sustained in order to address critical needs in the constituency as determined by the people.
