Th most memorable moments of life’s varied encounters sometimes come without a force or fanfare. But as events unfold years later, we come to recognize their landmark nature and what truly defined them.
The past is not “DEAD” and FORGOTTEN” as we often assume, it certainly speaks, but in what language? Is it the language of Books, Records, testimonies, and accounts, or is it the language of metaphors, or symbols, and of structures? Let’s remember that where there is no recollection, the people are easily misled. It’s important to remember those moments without which things might had been worse.
The opposition want to take-over power in Anambra State by force and the only dreamy way to achieve this is to pour venom on Prof. Soludo, as think! this must be the summit of really self-delusion, and of course Anambrarians already know the serious contender for the plum office.
The opposition should know that condemnatory gibberish about Prof. Soludo will not give them victory in the up-coming election. Their kindergarten analyses of political issues in the state shows where they are coming from.
Please, what does opposition have on ground; as their structure or where is their structure built in Anambra State.
Seeing how ardently they are trying to invade our memories with a “failure and one-chance Trojan virus” in a bid to reformatting it, clearing off and replacing existing data and records in their attempt to rewrite history thereby playing on our intelligence, it became increasingly incumbent on me to pen this short write-up, because Anambrarians knowing we have had our fair share of uninspiring leaders and mercantile Godfathers that held the state prostrate.
Their plans (the opposition) of making Prof. Soludo a one-term Governor has failed. I smell an “odour of failure already around them, if in truth our journey to greatness in Anambra state stops under Prof. Soludo’s watch, as we know the popular choice of all, #Charles-soludo.
I already had my infatuation of what milestones the state would achieve under Prof. Soludo’s second term with his good and inclusive governance style by the next decade if we remain steady and focused through visionary continuity.
Anambrarians need confidence in their own future and belief that good governance matters if entrusted in the hands of those who know why they are seeking public office; that they can deliver them to the Promised Land. This prospect is looking increasingly possible everyday with Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo to continue to lead the good people of Anambra and be in the saddle.
Secondly, with these fundamental questions settled, it is imperative to address again some of the lies and utter falsehood being pedalled by these blackmailers (the opposition) and so-called political jobbers and political entrepreneurs, who are now resorting to all sort of blackmail, sponsored articles and choreographed comments on social media targeted at tainting Prof. Soludo’s Name, image, records, impugning his character and legacy.
Clearly, the negative attacks are being sponsored by those who see Prof. Soludo’s success in Anambra State as a major threat to their political ambition.
Clearly, the negative attacks being sponsored by those who see Prof. Charles Soludo as a threat to their political ambition should understand that “Anambra does not need a maverick politician, who would be too bogged down with party politics and intrigues that will leave him little or no time to attend to critical state matters.”
One of the confirmed truths is that all contenders in the November 8th Anambra Governorship Election must respect Prof. Charles Soludo, who is on the ground, and the Soludo phenomenon has established the real foundation for the multi-sectoral transformation and development of Anambra State. This makes the opposition irrelevant as a representative for the Anambra Government House.
Now, to put it in the opposition’s head, before Prof. Charles Soludo came on-board as Governor of Anambra State, He was a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Today, many have forgotten of the financial strategy and intelligence he had brought on-board to the fore after assuming office as the Governor of Anambra. We should all fancy Prof. Soludo’s expertise on economic management as he brings this again to liberate Anambra state and drive her to further prosperity, progress and development with global best practices for good governance for the continuing peace and progress of Anambra State.
Now, just to drop a hint of some of the things Prof. Soludo Achieved then, including using his banking reforms to create a massive economic boom in the Nigerian Economic sphere which drove the stock market into an unprecedented bullish, and what started out as a recapitalization exercise later snow balled into industry consolidation which led to the emergence of new market leaders.
The novel marketing blitz that accompanied these offers became one of the reference points in the Nigerian Capital Market, to the extent that offer marketing, hitherto a subtle process, became celebrated to the point of competition among the issuers. As at then and that time, Nigeria emerges as the best-performing stock market in Africa, despite bearish dominance, Nigeria’s stock market still topped Africa’s best performing market chart, beating the Likes of Egypt, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and some other African countries. That development was attributed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN’s) reform. This was owing to Prof. Soludo’s ingenuity to restore the lost glory of the system, to show resilience compared to its African peers and counterparts, as it was not immune to challenges affecting global markets. This shows you more of Prof. Soludo’s International pedigree and capabilities.
Meanwhile, from the beginning as CBN Governor, when Prof. Soludo assumed the position of the CBN governor in 2003, his task was huge, the challenges seemingly insurmountable, Economic shock, no good monetary policies to support the then administrative drive and vision for development etc. but, despite this huge headwinds, He was able to calm the waters and steer Nigeria away from much worse outcomes and put Nigeria back on the path of growth and progress. If you take a dispassionate view, you would see more of the golden leadership Prof. Soludo brings to the table and how he was able to handle the serious problems confronting the country then, in a very simplistic way, by making the CBN one institution that could rise to the challenges confronting Nigeria’s fundamental structural economic problems, by tackling everything, to providing strategic interventions and vigorously pursuing financial development. He also provided far-reaching solution to various sectors, that shielded the Nation’s Economy from collapse.
He further used targeted policy instruments as springboard to lay a foundation for further modest growth recorded in the Economy then.
Prof. Soludo’s leadership had provided the dual roles of combining a mixture of monetary and a bit of fiscal measures in boosting economic growth.
With the above, Prof. Soludo’s track record speak volumes and will always go before him. He has not failed or disappointed in any way, all the big Dreams for Anambra State are on course and on-board.
The political turf in Anambra State is very slippery and it is one that requires the skills of battle-tested gladiators to walk and work on it.
The opposition cannot boast of such active gladiators, their stock in trade is bad mouthing the All-Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) standard bearer for No reason. Other than envy, and attack Prof. Soludo for his high stakes in taking Anambra forward and more developed.
As we all know, “positive growth cannot be sustained without strategic thinking, visionary planning and guided implementation of purposeful programmes and project, because an enduring prosperity is infinitely predicated on solid and enduring developmental framework, which basically cover all aspects of Human and societal development.”
Prof. Soludo’s training and experience makes him to understand the role of leadership and good governance; yes, good governance rests on frugal management of resources, operating within available resources and equitable distribution of such resources via prioritisation.
While, the (Prof. Soludo’s) has also leverage on his good relationship and goodwill to attract international development partners to support his government, by pursuing collaborative ventures.
Anambrarians, should understand that one great deserves another; because Prof. Soludo’s led administration has become the most dependable link between holding down the monstrosity of insurgency, but bringing and delivering the gains of today’s beneficial democracy, to Anambrarians.
This is a good lesson in inspirational leadership, as this is a bitter truth which Prof. Soludo has couched in another way.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had this to say about Prof. Charles Soludo;
Charles Soludo is a true Nigerian. He is the kind of Nigerian that we all know we can truly rely on. Among his numerous virtues is courage. I have found in him a man who can take tough and realistic decisions, stand his ground, educate others on the salience of his decisions, and work very hard to ensure that these decisions are effectively implemented.
His dedication to duty is first rated. His leadership qualities are admirable and his willingness to listen and learn is simply infectious, Professor Soludo has within a short time emerged as one of the leading lights of our Nation, not because he has a godfather, but by sheer hard work, loyalty, dedication to duty, commitment to the nation, creativity and undiluted association with the reform agenda.
This is a Testimony about Prof. Soludo.
