Anambra Monarch Consoles Family Of Lady Killed By Boyfriend Over Breakup

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The traditional ruler of Uga community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, His Royal Highness Obi Chidi Stephen Ezenwugo, Obi of Uga, has consoled the family of Miss Mmesoma Umeorini, aged 23, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend over news of breakup with him.

Reports making the rounds alleged that her boyfriend lured her to his house where he strangled Mmesoma to death because she announced to him that she was no longer interested in the affair and would wish to discontinue it.

The traditional ruler of Uga community in a press statement signed by him condemned the sinister act, saying that no one absolutely has the right to take anyone's life irrespective of who offended the other.

His statement reads, " With a heavy heart, I, HRH Obi Chidi Stephen Ezenwugo, Obi of Uga, mourn the tragic and painful death of our daughter, Miss Mmesoma Umeorini, aged 23.

On behalf of the Obi-in-Council, my Royal Family, and the entire people of Uga Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, I extend our heartfelt condolences to her mother, her family, friends, and all who knew her. We share in your pain. May God Almighty grant you strength and may her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

The loss of a young life full of promise is a great loss to Uga Kingdom. No grievance justifies taking human life. Life is sacred and an abomination to waste in our land.

I appeal to all residents of Uga, both indigenes and non-indigenes, to be law-abiding and to respect the sanctity of human life. To those who live by violence, I appeal to you to change from such evil path and embrace a lawful and Godly life. There is no profit in shedding blood.

I thank the Anambra State Police Command, the DPO Umuchu Division, and the Agunechemba Security Operatives in Uga for their quick intervention and arrest. I trust that the case now transferred to the State CID, Awka, will be handled with diligence so that justice is served.

I plead with our youths to remain calm and peaceful. Let us not take laws into our hands. Let the law take its full course.

May God keep Uga land peaceful and safe for all who live and do legitimate business in it."
