Udogachi Accused Of Illegal Collections, Threats To Lives In Anambra-East

 From Theo James

The Igbo Adagbe Youth Congress has called on the Anambra State Governor’s Special Adviser on Homeland Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, to urgently review the operations of the Udogachi security team in Anambra East Local Government Area.

The call was contained in a press statement signed by the President of the Igbo Adagbe Youth Congress, Comrade Bede Tochukwu Ekwenze.

The Congress also urged Emeakayi to consider a reshuffle or replacement of personnel where necessary, following reports of alleged misconduct by members of the security outfit.

The statement reads:

"The Congress has received disturbing reports alleging illegal collection of money from residents and threats to people's lives amid the ongoing crisis. We urge the relevant authorities to investigate these reports urgently, impartially, and thoroughly, and take appropriate action if any misconduct is established.

"We insist that the prevailing crisis must not be used as an opportunity to intimidate residents, demand unauthorised payments, or threaten anyone's safety. Every security outfit must operate within the law and demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and accountability.

"We therefore call for stronger supervision, an immediate investigation of the reported incidents, and firm measures to protect residents and restore public confidence."

The Igbo Adagbe Youth Congress maintained that security personnel were entrusted with the responsibility of protecting lives and property, not creating fear among residents.

"We demand professionalism, accountability, and absolute orderliness from every local security outfit operating in Anambra East," the Congress stated.

The group urged the relevant authorities to ensure that the reported incidents were thoroughly investigated and that appropriate measures were taken to safeguard residents and uphold public confidence in local security operations.
