RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Anambra celebrity legislator, Hon. Bernard Udemezue, who represents Ayamelum state constituency in the current 8th assembly, has implored Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to forgive him for his unusual outbursts in the social media like a father would forgive his child.
Udemezue who tendered an unreserved apology in an elaborate press conference held in his office at the legislative complex Awka, described Gov. Soludo as a good man who has done exceedingly well for the state in his first term which Ayamelum is a beneficiary.
He pleaded with the governor to temper justice with mercy and come to the aid of Ayamelum because his people are suffering especially in road infrastructure.
Udemezue who was recently recalled from six months old suspension, x-rayed Soludo's first term achievements in security, education, health and infrastructure, noting that the governor's efforts in the aforementioned sectors were indeed legendary and monumental.
Udemezue observed that security has relatively improved in Anambra State even though his cousin was kidnapped and burnt under the second Niger Bridge recently by men of the underworld.
He said Anambra used to be a no-go area due to insecurity but the governor's interventions, according to him, has changed the status quo and enthroned a tranquil atmosphere in the state.
The lawmaker noted that the governor's efforts in the health sector can not be overemphasized because the governor, according to him, has employed more personnel, renovated primary healthcare facilities and built new general hospitals which he said Ayamelum is also beneficiary to ensure regular and constant delivery of comprehensive healthcare services especially to people in the rural areas.
In education, the lawmaker noted that Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has done tremendously well by employing more teachers as well as ensuring that schools operated on Mondays having improved security of the state coupled with introduction of Smart Schools.
In infrastructure, the lawmaker was of the opinion that the governor has done so well in road construction but expressed concern that road construction seemed to be concentrated in the urban areas.
He was however worried that there is no reasonable infrastructural development in Ayamelum Local Government Area as the road connecting the capital city to Ayamelum through Amansea-Awbaofemili-Umuerum which required a bridge to connect Ayamelum to the state capital has not been done.
Udemezue was also worried that the alternative route that connects Achala (Awka-North ) to Omor (Ayamelum) has not been constructed too even though he believes that the governor still has enough time to attend to the infrastructural needs of Ndi-Ayamelum.
The celebrity lawmaker however appealed to the governor to come to the aid of Ayamelum people. Although he said he learnt that the governor has awarded a road from Onitsha to Otuocha but equally expressed deep concern that he doesn't know if the road construction project would extend to Omor from Otuocha even as he urged the governor to complete a reconstruction road project he started before his reelection to enable them have one good road in Ayamelum state constituency.
