Anambra State Government has assured Ndi-Anambra at home and those returning for Christmas, New Year and other celebrations that the atmosphere is safe and secured as the state welcomes one of Africa's best performing act and music icon popularly known as Flavour on December 30th.
Apart from Flavour, government has also made arrangements for top-notch comedians and other galaxy of entertainers including masquerade performances to give the people a December to remember this festive season just to ensure that there is never a dull moment from 18th December to 4th January next year.
Briefing newsmen at the Deputy Governor's office at the new Lighthouse Awka, a galaxy of top government functionaries who addressed journalists, said this festive season promises to be fun-filled, convivial and memorable because series of activities have been lined up for the people to relish and have fun like never before.
The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor who outlined activities for the period, said from 18th December to 4th January, it would be back to back funfare because the stage is set for a crispy Christmas and New Year celebration in Anambra State.
Mefor informed that December 18 is the City Block at Awka Township Stadium at 6pm. He it will feature musical performances and other forms of entertainment. This would be followed by the Christmas Carol on December 20 at Ekwueme Square Awka at 4pm.
According to him, Children's Christmas festival will hold at the Solution Fun City Awka on December 25 at 2pm. He said it would be a special celebration for Anambra children featuring games, gift presentations and others.
He said the state masquerade festival would hold on 27th December at Ekwueme Square Awka and time is 2pm prompt while it continues the next day at Ekwulobia Township Stadium and Ezechima Primary School Onitsha simultaneously from 2pm in the afternoon. Novelty football match, according to him, will hold on 29th December at Awka Township Stadium at 2pm.
The grand homecoming of Anambra-born music legend Mr. Flavour will hold on 30th December at the Solution Fun City Awka while a special walk for life will take place on 3rd January at the Ekwueme Square at 7am in the morning to promote healthy living and community engagement.
Mefor said on same 3rd January, comedians will thrill Ndi-Anambra with hilarious rib-cracking jokes and it would be a festival of laughter at the Solution Fun City Awka as the comedy concert promises to be mind-blowing.
4th January, according to him, is specially designed for the oldies and the old school to have unlimited fun at the Country Club of the Solution Fun City Awka, adding that all are invited to be part of the series of events lined up to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Anambra State.
He however assured that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure safety and security for all and sundry as Anambra celebrates 2025 Onwa Dezemba in a very unique electrifying manner that will remain indelible in the minds of the people.
Government officials at the press briefing include the Entertainment Commissioner Comrade Don Onyenji, Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime and the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Dr. Ejimofor Opara.
