RAYMOND OZOJI reports
Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 8th Anambra governorship election Evangelist Nicholas Ukachukwu has described government-owned hospitals in Anambra State as glorified mortuaries.
Ukachukwu who made the description during the inauguration of his campaign council at the APC party secretariat in Awka, observed that government-owned hospitals under the present administration operated with very obsolete and moribund facilities leading to poor healthcare services to the people.
He however assured Ndi-Anambra that if elected into office as governor of the state, his administration will enhance from primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare and that his government will synergize all of them so they can function effectively and offer comprehensive healthcare services to the citizens, stressing that 50% of the state internally generated revenue is enough to revamp as well as reinvigorate the state health sector, amongst numerous other laudable plans he has for Anambra.
When contacted to respond to the claim by the APC governorship candidate that Anambra hospitals are glorified mortuaries, the state commissioner for health, Dr. Ben Afam Obidike, requested this journalist to produce a video clip of where the APC candidate made such statement before he would respond officially.
