Barely few weeks of empowering over 1000 families with shuttle buses, motorcycles, sewing machines and other economic tools in Idemili-South Local Government Area, the Mayor, Hon. Dr. Mrs. Amaka Obi, has commissioned more projects for public use in the council area.
She commissioned1.5 Kilometers Ogba-Efi Ring Road Awka-Etiti and St Gerald Road, Aborji Oba with solar street lights. She also commissioned solar powered water borehole project at Ogbo-efi ring road Awka-Etiti coupled with solar street lights across the seven communities in Idemili South Local Government Area.
The consensus opinion at the commissioning ceremonies were that Amaka Obi has set the template for local government administration in the state as her interventions and project executions across the council area have left indelible impressions in the minds of the people. She was therefore described as the best Council Mayor in Anambra State because of her leadership style.
The commissioning ceremonies which were witnessed by the Anambra State House of Assembly Committees on Works and Local Government respectively, also had the presence of the APGA House of Representatives candidate for Idemili-North and South federal constituency Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu (Ike-Cubana), the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Arch. Okey Ezeobi, the incoming Mayor of Idemili-South Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu (Olutech) and other dignitaries.
Amaka Obi said that the Ogbo-efi ring road constructed and commissioned by her administration at Iluowelle village Awka-Etiti was done as an alternative route to decongest traffic at Eke-Awka-Etiti market while the solar-powered borehole water facility was done inorder to provide portable water for the people especially operators of the cattle market in the community.
On the construction of St. Gerald Road Aborji Oba, Amaka Obi, stated that the road was constructed inorder to alleviate sufferings of inhabitants of Oba Estate due to the very deplorable state of the road, adding that the timely response of Idemili-South Local Government Authority ameliorated the situation.
The President-General of Oba community Chief Anthony Ejiofor and the Chairman Board of Trustees of all the Estates in Oba town, Comrade Ikechukwu Onyekwere, in their separate speeches, recalled that the road was a nightmare to the estate dwellers but they were happy now that it has been constructed and commissioned.
Meanwhile the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Works Hon. Engr. Emmanuel Nwafor, commended Amaka Obi for the construction of the roads, describing her efforts as very impressive.
Nwafor noted that his committee conducted oversight duties on the roads during construction and ensured that they were up to standards after which they certified them as motorable.
Commissioning the road projects at Awkaetiti and Oba respectively, the Works Commissioner, Arch. Okey Ezeobi, said that the projects were in tandem with the needs of the people, stressing that road construction brings development to the people especially those in the countrysides.
Ezeobi however galvanised support for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at Oba and Awkaetiti, urging the people to vote APGA all the way in the 2027 national assembly elections.
