Anambra: Councilor Emerges APGA Candidate For Idemili-South Chairmanship Election

Honourable Oluchukwu Ilogbenu the councilor representing Nnobi ward 2 in Idemili-South legislative council, who also functions as the chairman of Ngo village in Nnobi has emerged candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the August 29 Idemili-South Local Government Area chairmanship election.


Ilogbenu who couldn't withhold his joy and ecstasy when the Returning Officer declared him winner of the election amidst thunderous ovations from delegates, told newsmen that he not only sold phone chargers to survive but also did other businesses to make ends meet as he believes politics was not an occupation. 


He said that the incumbent Mayor Hon. Dr. Mrs. Amaka Obi has performed wonderfully well and that the people were happy with her. That his would be to consolidate on her efforts inorder to take Idemili-South Local Government to greater heights. 


Amaka Obi on her part, expressed confidence that Oluchukwu Ilogbenu will do his best for the local government and that she would also be available to lend her support to ensure he succeeded even as she described him as a grassroots leader and a dedicated party man. 


Meanwhile Returning Officer for the APGA primaries in Idemili-South Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Aforka, who was the former House of Assembly representative for Orumba-North state constituency, said the election was peaceful and that Idemili-South delegates spoke with a very loud voice and elected candidate of their choice. 


Aforka stated that there was no rancour and no atom of disagreement as the people were happy, which according to him, showed that APGA does things the right way. 


Idemili-South APGA chairman Hon. Kizito Anoliefo described Oluchukwu Ilogbenu as a nice person and wished him success in his new office. He however advised that he should endeavour to bring Idemili-South together as he pilots the affairs of the council area. 


Comrade Don Onyenji, the state commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, who hails from Akwa-Ukwu in Idemili-South Local Government Area, said the election went according to the wishes of the people and that he believes very strongly in the ability of the candidate to perform creditably well. 


The State Assistant Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Hon. Uche Maduekwe, who hails from Oba community in Idemili-South Local Government Area, said the victory was well deserved and they were all happy with the outcome of the election. He said they wanted someone who will continue from where Amaka Obi stopped and that Oluchukwu Ilogbenu perfectly fits into what they wanted for Idemili-South Local Government Area.
