RAYMOND OZOJI reports
President-General of Okija community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Paul Ohaguim Chikeobi has debunked and dismissed what he described as fake online stories of pregnant women delivering their babies in darkness at primary healthcare facilities in the community.
It would be recalled that online articles claimed that doctors and nurses at Ubahumonum and Oghalegbu primary healthcare centres in Okija community allegedly used candles and touchlights to deliver pregnant women of their babies due to outright lack of electricity in the health facilities.
The online stories also claimed that the deplorable conditions of the health centres are so catastrophic such that most times health personnel in the facilities struggled with darkness to do their jobs while patients suffer untold hardships even as the stories further claimed that the situation extended to other primary healthcare centres in Ihiala Local Government Area coupled with dearth of health professionals.
But the President-General of Okija community, Chief Paul Ohaguim Chikeobi, while speaking to this journalist exclusively, maintained that such stories were malicious, malignant and the machinations of mischief makers intended to bring the community to disrepute.
He said that the PHCs are working and that healthcare delivery in the facilities are uninterrupted contrary to insinuations of services being interrupted by perennial power outages.
The PG said, " Don't mind those idiots. We know them. We are not fools. Why didn't they report the situation to the appropriate authorities instead of going online to publish unverified stories about the community.
The person who must have written that thing is an idiot. Please ignore it and face your business."
