Awka-North Local Government Area of Anambra State has commenced tour of the 150 polling units in the 14 political wards of the council area.
The tour which began on Tuesday 28th October is expected to end on Saturday 1st November, 2025 with the aim of massive voter mobilisation and canvassing for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo's electoral conquest in the council area.
Chairman of Awka-North Local Government Area Hon. ThankGod Chibuike Anago, who spoke exclusively to this journalist about the polling unit campaign tour, said the tour will begin with Awba-Ofemili where they would cover 10 polling units and thereafter proceed to Ugbene which has 8 polling units.
Anago said they would also tour the 9 polling units in Ugbenu ward for the first day of the campaign. He said that the polling unit tour was embarked upon so they could interface with the 100-man polling unit campaign committees in each of the polling units to enable them begin to mobilise as well as canvass more voters for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to ensure the triumph of Governor Soludo on November 8th this year.
He said that the essence of the polling unit campaign tour was for massive mobilisation of Awka-North people for them to come out en masse to vote the governor overwhelmingly because they want to be the local government with the highest percentage of votes cast for the governor and his deputy.
Anago who disclosed that Awka-North was not treated as a community let alone a local government area and completely forgotten by past administrations, maintained that Awka-North people were profoundly appreciative of the massive infrastructural interventions Soludo administration has brought to the area.
According to him, the government of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has connected the 10 communities of Awka-North Local Government Area with what he mentioned as quality tarred roads such that they no longer had to travel through 5 different local government areas before they could access the council headquarters at Achalla.
He further disclosed that Governor Soludo has made it easy and very convenient for them to access any part of Awka-North within minutes due to the interconnectivity of roads in the area, describing the transformations as unprecedented and monumental.
Apart from roads, Anago also informed that the present administration has built a brand new general hospital at Amanuke community and equally provided an ultramodern Smart School at Amansea community, stressing that the governor has been awesome to the people of Awka-North.
Anago was therefore of the opinion that the love and affection the people of Awka-North have for Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo transcended party affiliations such that they would always be with him wherever he goes because he is the only governor that brought them out of oblivion and political servitude.
He also added that because of the love they have for the governor, they had to rally round and raised the sum of N150 Million in support of his re-election and in appreciation of the developmental strides he brought to Awka-North Local Government Area.
