Soludo Has Modernized Anambra Health Facilities -- Lawmaker

RAYMOND OZOJI reports

The Chairman Ànambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health, Hon. Tony Muobike says contrary to invectives from opposition elements that Anambra Primary Healthcare Centres are monuments of deaths, the lawmaker said such were unfounded claims and blatant lies because Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has modernised all the health facilities in the state for optimum services especially with the introduction of telemedicine in the healthcare system.

Muobike who spoke to this journalist exclusively, explained that telemedicine is an innovation that makes it possible for people especially those in the hinterlands to always have unhindered access to medical doctors even in the most precarious situations.

The lawmaker stated that as the Chairman of the state assembly health committee, he can confidently say that health facilities have greatly improved in Anambra State under the Soludo administration judging from the health committee's oversight functions in the last two years.

The Aguata 2 constituency representative in the 8th assembly, said that the health committee has carried out oversight duties on the primary healthcare centres, the secondary healthcare facilities and the tertiary level healthcare facilities, noting that what is on ground today is far better than what was the order of the day before the advent of the present administration.

He also disclosed that the present state government is building five new general hospitals in the Anambra-North region of the state to take healthcare directly to the people in the rural areas coupled with the rehabilitation of general hospitals across the three senatorial zones of the state including primary healthcare facilities now adorned with solar lightening systems for 24hours service delivery.

He further disclosed that the state government is building a brand new Trauma Centre at the state teaching hospital Amaku Awka to help in trauma cases together with a Central Drug Store made possible by the Soludo administration for the health facilities to have uninterrupted access to drugs which hitherto was a major problem.

Muobike who mentioned the free antenatal services for pregnant women instituted by the present administration, also noted that thousands and thousands of healthcare workers have been employed by the present state government to continually address the issues of human resource for health.

He equally mentioned that the State House of Assembly has enacted the Anambra State Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency Law, which he said targeted standardization of the health system in the state, stressing that the law has reduced quackery because the Ministry of Health and security agencies are now fighting criminal elements in the health sector.
