Cry no more was the compassionate consolatory goodwill message of Her Excellency Sen. Oluremi Tinubu to the poor and vulnerable members of the society in Anambra State as such groups can now access free food palliatives at primary healthcare centres across the state.
It was reassuring that apart from the free antenatal and child delivery services, free immunisation services, highly subsidized health insurance schemes and other free healthcare benefits, grassroots dwellers would henceforth have access to free food items at the PHCs courtesy of the federal government as well as the magnanimity of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his wife Dr. Nonye Soludo.
That was the message of hope by the wife of the President to women and children of Anambra State especially the downtrodden amongst them as she launched the Southeast National Community Food Bank in the state coupled with the empowerment of 500 families with economic tools to alleviate their sufferings as well as rescue them from vulnerability, squalor and abject penury.
Indeed primary healthcare centres (PHCs) in Anambra would be sources of food palliatives for the people as Sen. Oluremi Tinubu rightly stated that there is hope for young mothers and impoverished children because there is food available for them at the PHCs.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo further corroborated what the wife of the president said, stressing that his government would ensure that every primary healthcare centre in the 326 political wards of the state would have food banks so as to cascade the charity to the hinterlands and guarantee food security for the rural populace.
The governor who alluded to Matthew 25 verses 35 to 40, said that public service is the greatest platform for philanthropy and that Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has used the platform given to her by God to uplift and care for humanity.
Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo who was grateful to the wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for launching the National Community Food Bank in the state, noted that the federal government is empowering women and children in the state to address hunger and privation, adding that the food bank concept is a bold initiative towards addressing basic needs of the people.
Soludo's wife was of the opinion that no first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been impactful as the wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She stressed that her impacts in Anambra State can not be overemphasized as the records are there. That the national community food bank initiative is another veritable platform for touching lives and giving hope to the hopeless and forlorned.
Apart from launching the food palliatives, about 5000 families were equally empowered by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his wife. The beneficiaries which cut across Anambra received supports to strengthen their livelihoods. They include women, young people, farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, families, indigenes, non-indigenes as well as other segments of the society.
